Sino-Singapore (Wuhan) Science Park

SINGAPORE, March 29, 2022 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- On March 28 the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Commerce Investment Promotion Agency will lead a China Delegation to Singapore to participate in the 4th Asia BioPharma Convention. The Wuhan Eastlake delegation has the largest number of delegates in the China Delegation. The Wuhan delegation will sprout the rollout of the proposed Sino-Singapore Science Park in the Optics Valley of Wuhan.

The Asia BioPharma Convention Opening Ceremony will be held on 29th March 2011 at 10.00am at the Marina Bay Sands Exhibition & Convention Centre, to be jointly officiated by Mr. Yu Hua and Minister Counselor of Economic and Commerce, Mr. Li Ming Lin of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Singapore.

At the Asia BioPharma Convention, Wuhan Eastlake HighTech Development Zone will sign a collaboration agreement / a MOU respectively with the following Singapore organizations: Jurong Consultant, Sino-Singapore Investment & Innovation Platform (SSIIP) and CleanTech Ventures Asia Pte Ltd (CTVA).

According to the collaboration agreement / MOU, Jurong Consultant will undertake the task of drafting up the master plan of Sino-Singapore (Wuhan) Science Park; SSIIP will attract the management expertise, foreign investment, new technology, branding & promotion and products into the Science Park; CTVA will provide services in the aggregation and deployment of clean technology for environmental protection for the Science Park.

Wuhan Eastlake HighTech Zone was established in October 1988, and is located southeast of Wuhan City. In March 1991, it was approved by the State Council as the first batch of national high-tech industrial development zones. In 2001, it was approved as national optoelectronic industry base, i.e. Wuhan China Optics Valley. Since 2006, it has been listed as a world-class science and technology park pilot, the national service outsourcing base city demonstration area, national biological industry base, science and technology and trade innovation base, innovation and entrepreneurship base for overseas high-level personnel, the national geospatial information industry base, and the state new industrialization industrial base. On December 8, 2009, Eastlake High-tech Zone was approved to be a national demonstration area of innovation.

Currently, the revenue generated from the core optoelectronics industries has exceeded one trillion RMB and strong growth is seen in the biopharmaceutical, energy and environmental protection. High-tech & precision engineering and manufacturing is also expanding rapidly and looking into international collaboration.

Sino-Singapore (Wuhan) Science Park is the first project of co-operation between Wuhan and Singapore enterprises, which has gained the support from the China Ministry of Commerce, Hubei Provincial Government, Singapore Embassy in China and other organizations.

Wuhan Eastlake HighTech Development will allocate 30 square kilometers of land to the Sino-Singapore (Wuhan) Science Park. Based on the experience of the Suzhou Singapore Industrial Park, Tianjin Eco-City and Guangzhou Knowledge City, it will move forward to construct an open, diverse livable city which is most suitable for unique growth, integrating working, living, learning, leisure and will become a Singapore-style comprehensive international scientific and technology city.

Besides Wuhan Eastlake HighTech Development Zone, the China delegation also comprises Shanghai Zhangjiang HighTech Park, Shanghai Newsummit BioPharmaceutical Group, Shenzhen BGI Group among other high-tech zones.
