"The VIP Lounge is a quiet space away from the shopping crowds which brings to life our commitment to deliver an exclusive experience to our cardmembers. It is one way of thanking our cardmembers for their loyalty," said David Gold, senior vice president, Chase Card Services.

The Continental Airlines Credit Cards, which include Presidential Plus and OnePass Plus, offer cardmembers access to a suite of unique travel benefits, premium customer service and more ways to earn and redeem Continental OnePass miles. The VIP Lounge, with its array of hospitality features, extends the "exclusive" proposition to assist cardmembers through the frenetic holiday shopping experience:

  • Free Bag Check: Consistent with one of the core benefits of the Presidential Plus and OnePass Plus credit cards, which allow cardmembers to check bags for free on Continental flights, the VIP Lounge lets cardmembers check shopping bags at no charge.  Guests can drop off their bags to lighten their loads then continue shopping.

  • Complimentary Gift Wrapping Services:  Cardmembers can have their gifts wrapped in the VIP Lounge by professional gift wrappers.

  • Hospitality and Amenities: For cardmembers who prefer to kick their feet up and let others do the shopping, the VIP Lounge offers comfortable massage chairs, free WiFi and HDTVs that will broadcast sports games and other popular programming.  Guests can also enjoy a caffeine pick-me-up, relaxing hot herbal tea or holiday-themed refreshments and access a mobile phone charger at the VIP Lounge's convenient charging station.

  • Exclusive Events: As a treat to cardmembers, the VIP Lounge will host several special events, including a meet-and-greet with a celebrity chef on November 26th, Kick-Off Day. At that event, cardmembers will be treated to a catered gourmet spread and can receive foot rubs and hand massages, courtesy of a local spa. In December the VIP Lounge will feature several unique travel-related events and services, including an international wine tasting event and access to a luxury travel specialist, who will keep "office hours" on key dates, providing expert one-on-one advice for guests looking to plan their perfect trip.

  • And a travel lover's dream come true: Every visitor to the VIP Lounge will have the opportunity to enter to win a seven-day trip for two including airfare and hotel to any Continental Airlines destination of his or her choosing. Winners will stay at a property of the Luxury Hotel and Resorts Collection, which includes some of the world's finest hotels.

"The VIP Lounge and corresponding program elements are just one way that we are working in partnership with Chase to make the Continental Airlines credit cards more relevant and valuable for our customers. We also hope that customers see the benefit of using our cards for their holiday purchases, earning them additional miles." said Mark Sullivan, Director, Loyalty Marketing, Continental Airlines.

    • POCHEP, Russia - Russia will miss a 2012 deadline for destroying all of its chemical weapons, officials said Friday as they inaugurated a major new plant to dispose of them.
    • The facility at Pochep, in the western Bryansk region, is the latest of several plants built in Russia in recent years to dismantle its Cold War-era chemical weapons arsenals - the world's largest.
    • As a signatory of the international Chemical Weapons Convention, the country already has destroyed about half of its chemical weapons, according to Russian officials.

            • YEONPYEONG ISLAND, South Korea - North Korea warned Friday that U.S.-South Korean plans for military maneuvers put the peninsula on the brink of war, and appeared to launch its own artillery drills within sight of an island it showered with a deadly barrage this week.
            • The fresh artillery blasts were especially defiant because they came as the U.S. commander in South Korea, Gen. Walter Sharp, toured the South Korean island to survey damage from Tuesday's hail of North Korean artillery fire that killed four people.
            • None of the latest rounds hit the South's territory, and U.S. military officials said Sharp did not even hear the concussions, though residents on other parts of the island panicked and ran back to the air raid shelters where they huddled earlier in the week as white smoke rose from North Korean territory.

                • The trio - Samuel Pelesa and Filo Filo, both 15, and Edward Nasau, 14 - told rescuers they survived on rainwater they collected, a handful of coconuts, raw fish and a seagull that landed on their 12-foot- (3.5-meter-) long aluminum boat.
                • The boys set off Oct. 5 from their home island to one nearby.
