Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) late Thursday slashed its third-quarter sales outlook, citing weaker-than-expected demand. The chipmaker said that it expects revenue for the quarter ending September 25, 2021 to be in the range of down one to four percent as compared to revenue of $1.65 billion for the quarter ended June 26, 2010. 

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE: BMY) and its partner AstraZeneca (NYSE: AZN) on Friday that randomized phase 3 study trials of their jointly-developed compound dapagliflozin found that dapagliflozin was non-inferior compared to glipizide in treatment of type 2 adult diabetes. The rug also helped patitents reduce reduction in total body weight from baseline, compared with a weight gain on glipizide plus metformin therapy.

Warner Chilcott Plc (NASDAQ: WCRX) said Friday that it has agreed to  to purchase the U.S. rights to Enablex(R) from Novartis (NYSE: NVS) for $400 million in cash. Enablex is a product indicated to treat adults with symptoms of overactive bladder, which had U.S. sales of approximately $190 million for the year ended December 31, 2009.

        • Mohamed Osman Mohamud was arrested at about 5:45 p.m. just after he dialed a cell phone that he thought would blow up a van laden with explosives but instead brought federal agents and Portland police swooping in to take him into custody.
        • Federal court documents show the sting operation began in June after an undercover agent learned that Mohamud had been in contact with an "unindicted associate" in Pakistan's Northwest Frontier region.
