US stocks rallied on Monday after the National Bureau of Economic Research said that the recession that began in December 2007 ended in June 2009.

Below we highlight few companies whose shares are actively trading in Monday's session.

Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) rose more than 2% on Monday after the company said that it will begin selling the Wi-Fi-enabled iPhone 4 in China on Saturday, September 25. The company also said that it will open two new retail stores in Beijing and Shanghai to expand its expand its presence in the world's largest mobile market. Apple shares also climbed after Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu raised his price target on the stock to $374 from $350, citing stronger-than-expected iPad sales.

International Paper Co. (NYSE: IP) declined more than 7% Goldman Sachs said that it was “surprised and disappointed” by a report from Pulp & Paper Week that customers resisted a $40 per ton August containerboard price increase from $640 a ton to $680. The packaging trade magazine said it believes the paper producers will “rebate the price hike back to the customers.

Rovi Corporation (NASDAQ: ROVI) rallied more than 7% on Monday after the company announced that it has entered into a multi-year agreement with Apple Inc. whereby Apple shall license intellectual property from the company.  

Shares of Owens Corning (NYSE: OC) slumped more than 5% after the company said that U.S. market demand for roofing shingles will be approximately 10 percent lower for the full year 2010 than it was in 2009. The company said that much of this fall in demand has occurred in the third quarter where a reduction in customer inventories has contributed to a decline of approximately 35 percent in market demand from the third quarter of 2009. The company said that it remains comfortable with its prior guidance that Roofing EBIT margins will exceed 20 percent for the third quarter and also for full-year 2010. Owens Corning previously stated that it was on track to deliver as much as $450 million in adjusted EBIT in 2010. The company believes that, based on its revised outlook for U.S. roofing market demand, the higher end of the guidance is no longer achievable. The company expects that its 2010 adjusted EBIT will grow significantly from 2009.

InfoSpace Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP) surged more than 9% after the company announced that it has entered into an agreement to settle all claims in the stockholder derivative action brought against certain current and former officers and directors of InfoSpace brought by Anne D. Manos and James N. Mercer.  Under the terms of the Settlement Agreement, InfoSpace will receive a gross amount of $26.65 million as consideration for the dismissal of all claims in the Derivative Action.
