Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) slid more than 1.5% after the US Food and Drug Administration ordered the healthcare giant to halt sales of its Corail Hip System and TruMatch Personalized Solutions system until they are awarded the proper regulatory approvals. 

Shares of CRH plc (NYSE: CRH) sank as much as 17% after the Irish building materials giant issued a profit warning as it posted disappointing first-half net profit.

Geron Corporation (NASDAQ: GERN) plunged more than 5% on Tuesday, a day after D.C. federal judge Royce temporarily blocked the federal government from funding research involving human embryonic stem cells.

DayStar Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTI) tumbled more than 12% on Tuesday,  a day after it posted a wider second quarter loss. The company did not record any revenue during the latest quarter.
