The Independent Public Commission to Examine the Maritime Incident of31.5.10 met this morning (Wednesday), 4.8.10, with foreign observers LordDavid Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) from Northern Ireland and retired Canadian Brig.-Gen. KenWatkin, who have come to Israel for the testimony of Prime Minister BenjaminNetanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and IDF Chief-of-Staff Lt.-Gen. GabyAshkenazi next week. The five members of the Commission - retired Supreme Court Justice Jacob Turkel, Prof. Shabtai Rosenne, Maj.-Gen. (ret.) Amos Horev, Reuven Merchav and Prof. Miguel Deutch - have studied the Eiland Report and additionalmaterials.
The commission members and observers discussed - inter alia -next week's testimony and the substantive material. It should be recalled that the Commission coordinator, attorney Hoshea Gottlieb, has already informed Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Barak and IDF Chief-of-Staff Ashkenazi about the main issues they will be asked to comment on in next week's open sessions.
