Mosaic Co. (NYSE: MOS) plummeted more than 8% after the fertilizer giant said in a regulatory filing that it has issued a conditional letter to mine employees warning them that it may have to shut down a phosphate rock mine in South Fort Meade, Florida indefinitely due to a lawsuit by environmental groups that threaten the mine's license.

Shares of Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (NYSE: STP) slumped more than 8% after Citigroup initiated coverage on the stock with a Sell rating. In a research note to clients, the brokerage firm said, "While GCL poly should help 2H:10, cell/module costs look structurally high, pricing premium risky, and Pluto is complex mfg process just to keep slight efficiency lead. $7 tgt is avg of 11x $0.53 C11 EPS and 1x YE11 book." 

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE: FCX) plunged as much as 5% on Monday after China reported that copper imports declined  for the third straight month in June. China's customs agency said over the weekend that copper imports dropped by 17.3 per cent to 328,231 tonens last month. 

Vivus Inc. (NASDAQ: VVUS) slid more than 9% on Monday. The biopharmaceutical firm today announced that data on Qnexa(R), an investigational drug candidate, will be presented at the 11th International Congress on Obesity (ICO) in Stockholm, Sweden. 

BSD Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: BSDM) sank as much as 12% after it announced that it has received review questions from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding the submission the company filed for premarket clearance of the Company's Phase II MicroThermX Microwave Ablation System for ablation of soft tissue.
