Citigroup (NYSE: C) shares climbed 3 cents or 0.66% to $3.79 in mid-day trading on volume of over 750 million. The three-month average daily volume for Citigroup is 817.87 million. The Treasury Department announced Thursday that it has sold about 1.1 billion additional shares of Citigroup (NYSE: C) common stock. The government has so far sold nearly 2.6 billion Citigroup shares, or about a third of the total 7.7 billion shares it received in exchange for $25 billion it gave the bank during the 2008 credit crisis.

General Electric Co. (NYSE: GE) plunged 35 cents or 2.43% to $14.07 in afternoon trading. The stock has a 52-week range of $10.50-$19.70.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) slumped 10 cents or 2.36% to $4.14 in midday trading on volume of over 45 million. The three-month average daily volume for Sprint Nextel is 67.7 million.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE: LVS) dropped 24 cents or 1.09% to $21.90 despite positive Macau data. According to Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, Casino gambling revenue in the world’s biggest gambling hub surged 65 percent in June.

Shares of memory chip maker Micron Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MU) fell 10 cents or 1.18% to $8.39 in afternoon trading.

Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTIC) jumped 13.52% to $0.43 in afternoon trading after it announced that it deposited $39.3 million in cash with U.S. Bank National Association to cover the costs of all of its convertible debt coming due in 2010.
