TOKYO, Jun. 30, 2010 (Kyodo News International) -- Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (OOTC:MMTOY) and PSA Peugeot Citroen said Wednesday they have jointly started a feasibility study for the development and supply of powertrains for electric vehicles.

The study is an extension of existing collaboration on electric vehicles between Mitsubishi and PSA Peugeot Citroen, which have already signed a cooperative agreement regarding the development and supply of electric vehicles for Europe, the two automakers said.

Under the agreement, Mitsubishi plans to produce a jointly developed European model based on its i-MiEV electric vehicle for PSA Peugeot Citroen, starting in October. The sale of the European model will begin by the end of this year.
