As the US stocks starts higher on Thursday, several stocks reported heavy insider buying. Some notable stocks are discussed here.

Progress Software Corporation (Nasdaq: PRGS), a global enterprise software company, said that its Director P. Pead has bought 28,000 shares for a total value of $516,000 at the price in the range of $18.33 to $18.51 a share. PRGS is trading higher by 0.31 percent to $19.29 a share on Thursday.

Verisk Analytics Inc. (Nasdaq: VRSK), which enables risk-bearing businesses to understand and manage their risks, said that its President S. Stephenson sold 83,000 shares for a total value of $3,281,000 at an average price of $39.62 per share. VRSK is up 0.10 percent to $40.01 a share.

General Mills Inc. (NYSE: GIS), a global manufacturer and marketer of consumer foods sold through retail stores, said that its Director P. Danos has sold 4,000 shares for a total value of $146,000 at a price of $40.96 a share. GIS is trading lower  by 0.46 percent to $40.86 a share.

Valence Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: VLNC), is a company that develops, manufactures and sells dynamic energy systems utilizing its phosphate-based lithium-ion technology, said that its Director Carl E. Berg has bought 2,078,068 shares for a total value of $2,015,725 at an average price of $0.97 per share. VLNC is down 1.01 percent to $1 a share on Thursday.

Mylan Inc. (Nasdaq: MYL), a generic and specialty pharmaceutical company, which provides products to customers in more than 150 countries and territories, said that its Officer and Director R. Coury has sold 150 thousand shares for a total value of $3,257,000 at an average price of $21.71 per share. MYL is down0.23 percent to $21.79 a share.

Northern Trust Corporation (Nasdaq: NTRS), a financial holding company, said that its Director in an indirect transaction sold 36 thousand shares for a total value of $1,518,000 at a price of $42.61 per share. NTRS is trading lower by 0.19 percent to $41.14 a share.
