52-Week High & Low Stocks: AMD, OKS, AZO, HGIC, AMSC, PACB

During the day’s trading when the US market remained in a high note, several stocks recorded a new 52-week high/low. Some notable stocks are discussed here.

 

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) slipped to a new all-time low of $5.47 today with a trading volume of more than 19 million shares. The leading chipmaker is downgraded to Underperfrom from Neutral with a price target of $6.15 by analysts at Macquaries, and to Neutral from Buy by Longbrow Research analysts. At the same time, analysts at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch lowers the stock’s rating to Underperform made a deep cut to its revenue growth forecast, mainly because of manufacturing issues at a plant in Germany. Shares of Advanced Micro Devices tumbled 8.78 percent or 54 cents to trade at $5.61.

 

Oneok Partners LP (NYSE: OKS) recorded a new 52-week high of $45.96 with a trading volume of more than 39 thousand shares. The company provided an encouraging financial forecast for fiscal 2012. The net income of the company for 2012 is expected to be in the range of $355 million to $400 million, an estimated growth of 13 percent from the current 2011 earnings guidance of $325 million to $345 million. Shares rose 2.39 percent or $1.06 to trade at $45.42.

 

AutoZone Inc. (NYSE: AZO) rose to a new all-time high of $337.23 with a trading volume of more than 46 thousand shares. The company’s board authorized the auto-parts retailer to repurchase up to another $750 million in common stock, or about 5.6 percent of its current market value. Shares added 0.49 percent or $1.59 to trade at $323.93.

 

Harleysville Group Inc. (Nasdaq: HGIC) hit a 52-week high of $58.45 today, with a trading volume of more than 1.29 million shares. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. agreed to buy Harleysville for nearly $1.6 billion to expand in the US. Shares of Harleysville jumped 85.28 percent or $26.88 to trade at $58.40.

 

American Superconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: AMSC) fell to a new 52-week low of $3.85 with a trading volume of more than 253 thousand shares. The stock is downgraded by the Street Ratings to Sell from Hold. Shares of AMSC tumbled 10.24 percent or 63 cents to trade at $5.52.

 

Pacific Biosciences of California (Nasdaq: PACB) recorded a new all-time low of $3.37 today, with a trading volume of more than 103 thousand shares. Zeldes & Haeggquist, LLP, a shareholder and consumer rights litigation firm has commenced an investigation into possible violations of the federal securities laws by certain officers and directors at Pacific Biosciences. Shares of PACB fell 6.06 percent or 22 cents to trade at $3.41.
