As the U.S. market swung between positive and negative zones, several companies declared their future dividend plans. Some notable dividend payers are discussed here.


Spreadtrum Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRD) today announced that its board has approved its second quarterly cash dividend of 5 cents per American depositary share, or approximately $0.0167 per ordinary share. The second quarterly dividend will be payable to ordinary shareholders of record on October 11, 2011, on October 26, 2011. This dividend represents a quarterly payout of approximately $2.33 million in aggregate to ordinary shares. Shares added 2.48 percent, or 49 cents, to trade at $20.24.


Allied World Assurance Company Holdings AG (NYSE: AWH) declared a quarterly dividend equal to $0.375 per share payable on October 7, 2011, to shareholders of record on October 3, 2011. This dividend payment will be made in the form of a par value reduction. Shares were trading at $51.09, up 0.71 percent, or 36 cents.


Ameron International Corp. (NYSE: AMN) announced a quarterly dividend of 30 cents per share on its common stock. The dividend is payable on November 15, 2011, to shareholders of record on October 3, 2011. Shares added 0.31 percent, or 26 cents, to trade at $85.18.


MFA Financial Inc. (NYSE: MFA) declared a quarterly dividend of 25 cents per share of common stock for the third quarter of 2011. The dividend will be paid on October 31, 2021, to stockholders of record on October 11, 2021. The ex-dividend date is October 6, 2021. Shares gained 1.47 percent, or 10 cents, to trade at $6.92.


Dividend and Income Fund Inc. (NYSE: DNI) announced a quarterly dividend of $0.102 per share, payable by September 30, 2011, to shareholders of record on September 15, 2011. Shares were down 0.84 percent, or 3 cents, to trade at $3.51.
