As the US market swung between positive and negative zones, several companies declared their future dividend plans. Some notable dividend payers are discussed here.

 

Buckle Inc. (NYSE: BKE) announced that its Board of Directors authorized a special cash dividend of $2.25 a share. The payout, which will cost the company about $106.5 million, falls short of the special dividend of $2.50 a share issued last year. It will pay the special dividend, as well as its regular quarterly dividend of 20 cents a share, on October 27, 2021 to shareholders of record on October 14, 2011. Shares gained 2.08 percent or 82 cents to trade at $40.20.

 

Hecla Mining Co. (NYSE: HL) declared that Board of Directors has adopted a common stock dividend policy, which links dividend payments to its average quarterly realized silver price in the preceding quarter. The initial quarterly dividend under the policy is expected to be 3 cents per share of common stock, if Hecla's average realized silver price for the third quarter is $40 per ounce. Shares added 0.85 percent or 6 cents to trade at $7.08.

 

Realty Income Corp. (NYSE: O) announced an increase in its monthly cash dividend to $0.1451875 per share from $0.144875 per share. The dividend is payable on October 17, 2021 to shareholders of record as of October 3, 2011. This is the 56th consecutive quarterly increase and the 63rd dividend increase since Realty Income went public in 1994. The new monthly dividend amount represents an annualized dividend amount of $1.74225 per share as compared to the previous annualized dividend amount of $1.7385 per share. Shares were up 0.17 percent or 6 cents to trade at $34.56.

 

RLJ Lodging Trust Common Shares (NYSE: RLJ) declared a cash dividend of 15 cents per common share of beneficial interest, payable on October 14, 2011, to shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011. Shares added 0.67 percent or 9 cents to trade at $13.55.

 

Colony Financial, Inc. (NYSE: CLNY) announced that the Company's Board of Directors has declared a quarterly dividend of 33 cents per common share for the third quarter of 2011. The dividend will be paid on October 14, 2011, to stockholders of record on September 30, 2011. Shares gained 0.54 percent or 8 cents to trade at $14.81.

 

Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.075 per share of common stock, payable on November 15, 2021 to stockholders of record on October 17, 2011. Shares were up 1.27 percent or 18 cents to trade at $14.30.
