Several companies declared their future dividend plans amidst the positive movement of the US market. Some notable dividend payers are discussed here.

Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) has declared a dividend of $0.25 per share, payable October 28, 2011, to shareholders of record on September 30, 2011. This marks the 400th consecutive cash dividend issued by the company. Dow has paid its shareholders cash dividends every quarter since 1912. DOW was trading higher by 1.67 percent to $27.36 a share on Thursday.

Umpqua Holdings Corp. (Nasdaq: UMPQ) parent company of Umpqua Bank and Umpqua Investments, said Thursday that its board of directors approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.07 per common share, which represents a 40 percent increase over the cash dividend paid in the previous quarter. The dividend is payable on October 14, 2021 to shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011. UMPQ was trading higher by 0.41 percent to $9.77 today.

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust (NYSE: PEB) said today, that its board of trustees has declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.12 per common share of beneficial interest, to be paid on October 17, 2021 to shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011. The common dividend represents an annualized yield of approximately 3.3 percent based on the closing price of the common shares on September 14, 2011. The Board of Trustees also authorized, and the Company has declared, a quarterly cash dividend of $0.4921875 per share of the Company’s 7.875 percent Series A Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Shares of Beneficial Interest, to be paid on October 17, 2021 to shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011. PEB was trading higher by 3.24 percent to $14.97.

Dynex Capital (NYSE: DX) said Thursday that its board of directors declared a dividend on its common stock of $0.27 per share for the third quarter of 2011. The common stock dividend will be payable on October 31, 2021 to shareholders of record as of September 30, 2011. DX was up 1.16 percent to $8.74 on Thursday.

Newcastle Investment Corp. (NYSE: NCT) announced today that its board of directors has declared a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per common share for the third quarter of 2011, representing a 50 percent increase from the prior quarter’s dividend of $0.10 per common share. The dividend is payable on October 28, 2021 to shareholders of record on October 3, 2011. NCT was trading higher by 17.98 percent to $5.84 a share.
