As Wall Street trades mostly lower, several stocks recorded new 52-week highs or lows. Some notable stocks are discussed here.

52-Week Highs:

McDonald’s Corp. (NYSE: MCD) recorded a new 52-week high of $89.57 a share on trading volume of 5.5 million shares. The company had reported better-than-expected second quarter results on Friday. The stock is currently trading higher by 2.89 percent to $89.04 a share.

International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM) hit a new high of $185.60 on trading volume of 700 thousand shares. The company hit its new high at the initial hour of trading today. The stock is currently trading lower by 0.16 percent to $184.60 a share.

1st Source Corp. (Nasdaq: SRCE) recorded a new 52-week high of $23.66 a share on trading volume of 25,000 shares on Friday. The company had reported strong quarterly results and also declared a dividend on its common stocks. The stock is currently trading higher by 4.61 percent to $22.91 a share.

Athenahealth Inc. (Nasdaq: ATHN) recorded a new 52-week high of $60.29 on trading volume of 1.9 million shares. The company posted a quarterly profit above market expectations, and the provider of internet-based billing and other services to physicians raised its 2011 outlook. ATHN is currently trading higher by 17.06 percent to $56.87 a share.

 52-Week Lows:

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) recorded a new 52-week low of $10.33 on trading volume of 1.5 million shares. Airline stocks have been bearish for the last three-weeks. The stock is currently trading lower by 0.81 percent to $10.39 a share.

StanCorp Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: SFG) hit a new low of $33.88 on trading volume of 400,000 shares. The company had reported lower than expected second quarter results late Thursday. The stock rating was also downgraded by analysts at FBR Capital earlier today. The stock is currently trading lower by 14.53 percent to $35.23.

AMR Corp. (NYSE: AMR) recorded a new 52-week low of $4.26 on trading volume of 8 million shares. The bearish trend on airlines stock continues for the third week. The stock is currently trading lower by 5.38 percent to $4.31 a share.

Human Genome Sciences Inc. (Nasdaq: HGSI) hit a new 52-week low of $21.21 on trading volume of 4.9 million shares after the company reported lower than expected second quarter results. The company said that its second quarter loss had widened. The stock is currently trading lower by 6.59 percent to $21.69 a share.
