Dividend Scan: RFIL, DO, HBAN, MNRO, GM

As the US stocks continue to trade higher, several companies declared their future dividends. Some notable dividend payers are discussed here.

RF Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: RFIL) said Thursday that its Board of Directors has declared a doubling of the Company's regular quarterly cash dividend from $0.025 per common share to $0.05 per common share. The regular quarterly cash dividend will be payable October 17, 2021 to shareholders of record on September 30, 2011. RFIL is trading higher by 6.78 percent to $4.25 a share.

Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc.’s (NYSE: DO) board of directors declared a special quarterly cash dividend of $0.75 per share of common stock and a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.125 per share of common stock. Both dividends are payable on September 1, 2021 to shareholders of record on August 1, 2011. DO is down 2.24 percent to $71.10.

Huntington Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: HBAN) said today that its board of directors has declared a quarterly cash dividend on its 8.50% Series A Non-Cumulative Perpetual Convertible Preferred Stock of $21.25 per share. The dividend is payable October 17, 2011, to shareholders of record on October 1, 2011. HBAN is down 0.63 percent to $6.27 on Thursday.

Monro Muffler Brake Inc.’s (Nasdaq: MNRO) board of directors has indicated its intention to pay a regular quarterly cash dividend of $.09 per share during the remainder of fiscal 2012, representing an increase of $.01 or 12.5 percent, from the quarterly dividends paid in fiscal 2011. The second quarter dividend of $0.09 a share is payable on September 16, 2021 to shareholders of record at the close of business on September 6, 2011. MNRO is trading lower by 2.40 percent to $36.16 today.

General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) said Thursday that its board of directors has approved a quarterly dividend of $0.59375 per share on its Series B mandatory convertible junior preferred stock.  The dividend is payable Sept. 1, 2011 to Series B holders of record as of Aug. 15, 2011. The dividend is cumulative. The total amount of the dividend is approximately $59.4 million. GM is up 1.09 percent to $29.56 a share today.
