Browns agree to trade WR Corey Coleman to Bills

Corey Coleman being gone is a yawn. What do the Browns do next at receiver

The team gave up a seventh-round pick in 2020 to acquire the former first rounder from the Cleveland Browns. He later tried to walk that back by saying he was "not a professional wordsmith", but his personnel moves of late seem to suggest that he still believes it. Dorsey has now traded six players since he took over: Coleman, quarterbacks DeShone Kizer, Cody Kessler and Kevin Hogan, defensive tackle Danny Shelton and cornerback Jason McCourty.

Coleman was the team's No. 15 overall selection in 2016 but has only played in 19 games due to injuries.

Coleman had a promising start with the Browns, compiling a two-touchdown game against the Ravens in just his second game as a pro, but injuries and then a lack of productivity when he was on the field marred his time as a Brown.

Coleman, 24, has had each of his first two National Football League seasons cut short by a broken hand.

This trade is the second one the Bills have made over the previous year that involved a first-round wide receiver. That season he rolled up 74 receptions for 1,363 yards and an eye-popping 20 touchdowns. They acquired 2014 first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin from the Carolina Panthers last October. The Browns originally had the No. 2 pick in the 2016 draft, but they traded it to Philadelphia, which took Carson Wentz and now is a Super Bowl champion.

During the offseason workouts, offensive coordinator Todd Haley let it be known that it was "a make-or-break year" for Coleman.

In his first 29 National Football League games, Wentz completed 644 of his 1,047 attempts (61.5 percent) for 7,078 yards and 49 touchdowns against 21 interceptions.
