Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho criticises Anthony Martial, Antonio Valencia

Mourinho: Klopp has to deliver after spending spree

He has cut an unhappy figure throughout United's two-week trip to the US, finding fault with an array of issues since arriving in California earlier this month. Ojo's goal came on a second penalty kick for Liverpool, and the always-outspoken Mourinho had some choice words about the officiating.

Mourinho is finding fault with everything but accepting responsibility for none of it, and it is beginning to wear thin.

" Liverpool had the majority of their players, and they rotated their players".

Andreas Pereira, whose first-half free kick hauled United level following Sadio Mane's penalty opener, was impressive in midfield. "They will not be here", Mourinho said.

Liverpool absolutely bossed proceedings in the second half, with Daniel Sturridge, Sheyi Ojo and Shaqiri all finding the net.

"This is not our team, this is not our squad. Those were important moments in his career and now we have him and he can play together with a few really nice football players". This is not our squad.

Borussia Dortmund ease past Manchester City in Champions Cup opener
I am happy we won and just happy to play against my old club and I had a point to prove and I think I did well in the game. It's normal in this part of the season, it just prepares the team .

"So what did this game give me?" Eric Bailly was injured, he shouldn't be playing, but when he saw that (Chris) Smalling in the warm-up was coming out, he made a decision by himself not to let his team play with five kids in the back against (Mohamed) Salah, Mane and company so he put himself there for 90 minutes. I don't think you are right to say he is not happy.

Jose Mourinho has been somewhat negative during the Red Devils' pre-season tour so far, having repeatedly criticised the club's lack of spending. The people there decided the beach is better than this, so the stadium was empty.

"That's not normal after four days in the club, adapting that well to the style of play". This Liverpool defeat will do little to boost confidence, especially with European champions Real next up in Miami.

The Portuguese also suggested he was unhappy with Valencia's condition upon his return to the squad, with United missing a host of senior players for the tour.

José Mourinho wants two new signings but believes he will only land one after providing Manchester United with a list of five transfer targets months ago as his frustration grows at Old Trafford. He doesn't hold much hope that he will get what he wants.

"Maybe it is a step for me to know the players more than anything. I think that it's possible I will have one".
