Over the Earth shall ascend "blood" Moon

Saudi Arabia to witness 21st century's longest total lunar eclipse on Friday

If you want to see what the eclipse will look like in your area, you can plug your location into NASA's Lunar Eclipse Explorer.

'The colour is due to Rayleigh scattering - where the sun's blue light is scattered off molecules in the earth's atmosphere - which also happens at sunsets.

A rare astronomical event set to take place this week could herald the "end of days", according to some who have been following the "blood moon" phenomenon, with a number of Evangelical leaders even linking the celestial event to the USA embassy move to Jerusalem. So, start clearing your schedule for Friday because this total lunar eclipse is happening with or without you.

The first part or phase of lunar eclipse will see the moon fall under the earth's shadow.

Pakistan election polls latest: Cricketers support Imran Khan for Prime Minister
Cricket stars have pledged their support to the electoral campaign of their former colleague, Khan. Dil Nawaz, one of the guards of Gandapur, is also among the two martyred in the terror attack.

Providing information on the event, Director of Regional Science Centre, Prabal Roy said: "It is said to be longest Blood Moon of the century".

If you're planning to watch it online it begins at 1:14 p.m. ET, and maximum totality, or the blood moon, begins at 04:21 p.m. ET. It is known that the total lunar eclipse will be visible in cities including Delhi, Pune and Mumbai among others. The celestial event, where the moon will line up with the Earth and the sun, will be seen across the United Kingdom and other parts of the Eastern hemisphere. The moon thus colours red as it reflects the light refracted from the earth's atmosphere.

This is the latest eclipse of the space-housed pair we call our own home (Earth) and our moon. Additionally, the eclipse will only be visible from Australia as it is beginning and from South America as it is ending. But the night-time transformation of the moon into a bloody-red orb can be seen by anyone on the Earth below while it is night. It will be Mars's closest approach to our planet in over a decade so the planet will appear bigger in the sky. Asia, Indonesia and Australia will see it between midnight and sunrise Saturday. The moon will start to turn red around 5.30am (AEST) as the total eclipse starts, and ends around 7.13am.

The world is about to witness the longest total lunar eclipse of this century on July 27, 2018. The brighter Mars will remain very close to the eclipsed Moon in the sky on July 27-28 and can be spotted very easily with the naked eye.
