Antonio Conte Writes Emotion Message To Chelsea Following His Sacking

Conte who is reportedly set to be replaced by former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri also led Chelsea to the 2016-17 Premier League title in his first

With his appointment now confirmed, the 59-year-old Italian said he was looking forward to the challenge of competing for the Premier League crown after Chelsea slipped to fifth last season - having won the title the year before.

Sarri led Napoli to two second-place finishes in his three seasons in charge of the Serie A side, who named Carlo Ancelotti as his successor in May.

But they are set to announce him as their tenth manager since Roman Abramovich took over in 2003, with Brazilian midfielder Jorginho also likely to join him from Napoli, despite Manchester City pushing hard for a deal earlier in the season.

"I want to better myself and keep challenging myself, that's why I want to play in the Premier League and put myself against the best players".

Sarri, speaking in English in a video interview, added: "Chelsea is one of the most important clubs in the most important championship in Europe".

Antonio Conte has expressed gratitude to his "friends" at Chelsea for "two unforgettable seasons" which ended with his acrimonious sacking last week.

The news was met positively by Chelsea supporters, despite some concerns over Sarri's past misdemeanors. "London is a wonderful city, but I'm here for Chelsea".

"I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea".

Also, Napoli thrilled audiences across Italy and Europe with their fluid attacking football, with the two 4-1 results against Lazio and the 1-0 victory against Juve highlighting Sarri's tactical nous.

Sarri never made it as a player and, unable to make a living as a footballer, he worked as a foreign currency trader at the Banca Toscana.

Sarri said: "I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League".

However, the London club new head coach is known to be a man of many characters which might be new to Chelsea fans in the new season.

Sarri's first competitive match is against Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday, August 5.

The former Juventus and Italy boss had 12 months remaining on his £9million-a-year contract and is seeking compensation in full up front from Chelsea, rather than on a month-by-month basis.
