Russian intelligence officers indicted for hacking DNC

Rod Rosenstein

Announced by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the charges were drawn up by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director who is looking into Russian interference in the November 2016 vote.

The 11-count indictment against 12 Russian intelligence officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate, known as the GRU, were accused of hacking the Democratic National Committee, the Clinton presidential campaign and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "So long as we are united in our commitment to the shared values enshrined in the Constitution, they will not succeed".

"I love the United States", Trump continued. Pure stupidity. But it makes it very hard to do something with Russian Federation.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's wide-net Russian Federation investigation has officially resulted in 191 criminal charges against 35 defendants, and that count may only rise. In the first reaction from Trump's legal team, Giuliani calls the indictments "good news for all Americans", but falsely claims that "no Americans are involved". Though that party is unnamed in the indictment, it has been widely reported that WikiLeaks was used to disseminate the hacked info.

While U.S. intelligence agencies have long blamed Russian Federation for the hack, Friday's indictment lays out for the first time the details of how it is believed to have been carried out by two Moscow-based GRU departments, Units 26165 and 74455.

President Donald Trump was briefed about the indictments earlier in the week. He later fielded questions from members of the press, saying: "It's a total deflection this thing with Russian Federation". They'd been trying to hack her campaign and the DNC for months by that point.

And Willian had praise for the forward, saying: "Coutinho has been playing a wonderful World Cup , and he helps us a lot".

Friday's charges outline the extent of Russia's stunning attack on the electoral system of the most powerful country in the world. The case follows after a separate indictment that accused Russians of using social media to sow discord among American voters. "But I love getting along with Russian Federation and China and other countries".

Trump said at a news conference Friday near London with British Prime Minister Theresa May that he wasn't going into the meeting with Putin with "high expectations".

"I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it". They allegedly mined coins and acquired them "through a variety of means to obscure the origin of the funds", which were used to finance cyberattacks against Democratic party officials, members of Hillary Clinton's campaign, and others.

An FBI investigation report showed that special agents did find several thousand work-related emails among those deleted by Clinton and her campaign that should have been turned over to the State Department for archiving. He is investigating Moscow's interference in the election, and trying to determine whether Mr. Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The indictment was announced at nearly exactly the moment that Trump rolled into the quadrangle of Windsor Castle to meet the awaiting Queen Elizabeth II in the symbolic highpoint of his visit to Britain.
