Trump has 'little gift' for North Korea's Kim Jong

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo speaks to members of the media at Sunan International Airport in Pyongyang

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made another trip in Pyongyang last week to meet with the regime's dictator and begin to negotiate the terms for a planned denuclearization of North Korea.

The trip was Pompeo's third visit to North Korea this year and occurred amid reports of American intelligence assessments that Kim is continuing to develop the infrastructure for his nuclear program. In the meantime, the United States has already sacrificed an important alliance equity thanks to Trump's unilateral suspension of the joint military exercises with South Korea while giving up rhetorical ground by his adoption of the false North Korean description of these regular defensive exercises as "provocative war games".

She and her husband made their way to Mongolia before defecting to South Korea with their two sons. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he believes that China is behind North Korea's latest shift in tone.

"We expected that the US side would come with productive measures conducive to building trust in line with the spirit of the North-US summit and (we) considered providing something that would correspond to them", the spokesman said.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock is due to meet North Korean officials and visit UN projects across the country on Monday.

Pompeo characterized the talks as progressive, asserting that North Korea did not "push back" on denuclearization.

"If the United States is being accused of gangster-like behavior, then the world is a gangster", Pompeo told the press in North Korea.

And Willian had praise for the forward, saying: "Coutinho has been playing a wonderful World Cup , and he helps us a lot".

Trump did not give any sense of when he might give the CD to Kim.

"Their statement is typical North Korean negotiating style", Duyeon Kim, a visiting fellow at the Korean Peninsula Future Forum in Seoul, said in an email.

"I have confidence that Kim Jong Un will honor the contract we signed &, even more importantly, our handshake", Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter.

"Particularly, they have suggested that they are disappointed by the USA insistence on focusing on the denuclearisation plans over what they described as big-picture issues", she said. Speaking to Fox News, Graham said that the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China is the major reason for the pushback by Pyongyang.

Russian Federation has invited South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the economic forum as well, Yonhap said. The US has also stopped using the catchphrase of "complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearisation" of North Korea that it had insisted upon happening before North Korea gets any relief from a crippling sanctions regime.

While few think that the world would be better off with increased tensions between the US and North Korea - except perhaps national security adviser John Bolton - Trump's pathetic attempts at diplomacy have squandered an actual opportunity to move toward long-term peace.

North Korean negotiations will be long and grueling, but they shouldn't eat up all of America's attention.
