Senator to new acting EPA leader: 'Restore confidence' in agency's mission

NYT's Maggie Haberman Lists Probable Reasons Why Pruitt Is Still in Trump Admin

Former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt survived months of reports on his unethical behavior by lavishing praise on President Donald Trump and making himself a visible figure in the West Wing, The Washington Post reported Thursday evening. James Inhofe, one of Washington's most prominent climate change denialists, according to the Post. "It is my hope that Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler will uphold the President's commitment to the RFS and get the EPA back on track". "Senators must confirm a nominee who will hold the health and safety of American families in higher regard than the profits of big polluters".

"No final straw", Trump said Thursday, when asked what led to his decision.

"Within the Agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this", Trump said. Nancy Beck, head of the EPA's chemical safety office and a Pruitt appointee, is a former employee of the ACC.

"P.S., I transferred a sum of $152.4 million from the EPA to a personal account Cayman Islands on my last day".

"The president shouldn't expect the criticism to stop with Pruitt's resignation", he said.

Pallone said Wheeler won't make a difference at the agency.

While Wheeler may find it hard to accumulate the same number of ridiculous scandals as his predecessor, many pointed to the fact that he hosted fundraisers for GOP senators while they were evaluating his nomination for deputy EPA administrator as clear evidence of his contempt for basic ethical standards.

Google's Gmail controversy is everything people hate about Silicon Valley
At one point, the company's employees apparently used to read about 8,000 uncensored emails to help train the company's software. You can remove access for any service or application listed on the page and should do so for any that you don't use.

That'll do, Scott Pruitt.

EPA Deputy Administrator Andrew Wheeler, a former coal industry lobbyist, will take the helm as acting administrator starting Monday.

MSNBC commentator Chris Hayes implied that Wheeler would be as bad for the environment's health as tobacco is for the human body.

As a lobbyist with the firm Faegre Baker Daniel, one of his major clients has been the nation's largest private coal company, Murray Energy, whose CEO Bob Murray has been a generous Republican donor and Trump supporter.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was ousted in March. In a unanimous vote, the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission rejected Perry's proposal.

Democrats and environmental groups decried Wheeler as an apologist for the coal industry.

As the CV may suggest, Wheeler is no stranger to the intricacies of environmental policy or the kinds of tasks that await him at the top of the EPA.

Wheeler has long questioned the mainstream scientific consensus on climate change. Thanks so much to this community for caring about ethics and the environment and signaling to the Trump administration that you were paying attention to the shenanigans the White House tried to hide. George Voinovich and Oklahoma GOP Sen. As The Intercept reported in February, he made campaign contributions and hosted fundraisers in May 2017 for two Republican senators, Inhofe and John Barrasso, R-Wyo., both of whom are members of the Committee on Environment and Public Works.
