Uruguay take top spot

Jose Giminez

After an impressive win over Russia, Paul Mariner is impressed with Uruguay's attacking mentality and thinks they can challenge the top teams in the world.

Saudi Arabia winger Salem Al-Dawsari scored a last-gasp victor as Mohamed Salah's Egypt suffered a 2-1 loss in their Group A dead rubber played in Volgograd.

In the other match of this group of Saudi Arabia for the first time since 1994 won the world Cup.

England fans are finally showing more interest in going to Russian Federation to roar their team on now that it's winning at the World Cup.

What is certain is that now, having finished second, Russian Federation will play their next match at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, where they beat Saudia Arabia 5-0 in the tournament's opening match.

Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko - the former sports minister who still oversees football in an unofficial capacity - said the squad had no right to relax.

The ABTA has advised England fans there's three options to get there: "A flight to Moscow and then a two-hour flight, a flight to Moscow and then a 20-hour train journey, or you could fly to Poland or Lithuania and take the bus from there".

Video Shows Priest Slap Baby During Baptism
Another person said: "If that video would end with the father giving the priest a very strong bitch slap it would be flawless ". Internet users are confused, anxious and appalled at the priest's actions, with one person writing, "That was uncalled for".

Both sides had already qualified for the last 16 and Edinson Cavani poked home Uruguay's third in injury-time to seal a victory which means his side will now face Portugal in Sochi on Saturday.

Salah was contained by a Russian defence that had lost three starters and was forced to call back 38-year-old Sergei Ignashevich from global retirement.

For Russia, it's a case of maintaining the impetus - and the feel-good factor that has swept across the country - while giving some fringe players match time. His measured crosses won a few corners but the experienced three-man Uruguayan backline had little difficulty dealing with them.

It was 11 percent when coach Stanislav Cherchesov's charges were plodding their wave through a seven-match winless streak that saw their ranking slip to a tournament-worst 70th.

Luis Suárez gave Uruguay the lead after 10 minutes with a superb free-kick just outside the penalty area, taking advantage of a gap created by Sergei Ignashevich tussling with Edinson Cavani.

There was also noticeably more control in midfield and, on his 21st birthday, a promising performance from the young Juventus playmaker Rodrigo Bentancur, who was unlucky not to score and looked composed throughout.

Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera denied Cheryshev three minutes after the goal and Artem Dzyuba bounced a header over the bar before Uruguay scored a fortunate second mid-way through the first half.
