Apple working on noise cancelling AirPods, over the ear headphones

Sales of Apple's Home Pod speaker have reportedly fallen below expectations

Apple is going to release an updated version of the AirPods in 2019 with new features. It's hard to get that much expertise in audio engineering in one place, even when you've got Apple's giant pile of money, and Apple may be relying on their name and the fact that you have to use wireless headphones or that bad dongle with your iPhone.

Apple reportedly has big plans for its audio device lineup in 2019.

Apple may soon try to target the high-end with its audio devices, as new rumors are claiming that it has a more capable pair of AirPods in the works.

They're not flawless, but for a first generation product, they're pretty good. It won't enable users to swim with the next-generation AirPods. They will allegedly sit above the Beats headphones sold by Apple. "It is very likely that the headphones will be more expensive $159 for the current model, and this may mean that Apple will throw AirPods on segments, as it did with the iPhone", writes Bloomberg. An in-house audio product team is run by Gary Geaves, formerly an engineer from B&W, a maker of speaker systems and headphones. They were originally scheduled to arrive by the end of 2018 but development challenges pushed back release. Apple also wants to add hands-free Siri activation to the product.

The Bloomberg report also references "a new version of the HomePod for as early as [2019]", though it doesn't specify what Apple is thinking of adding to the speaker.

King of Queen's! Cilic saves match point to beat Djokovic for title
The 23-year-old was busted Saturday on live TV in his 7-6, 7-6 semifinal loss to Marin Cilic at the Wimbledon warmup event. World No.6 Cilic did not offer up one break point opportunity in their one hour and 25 minute meeting.

Additionally, Apple is rumored to be working on a wireless charging case that works with the upcoming AirPower charger. For all the valid criticisms you could level at the HomePod, poor sound quality is certainly not one of them.

The new over ear headphones are specifically created to compete with Sennheiser and top end audio brands. For the next-generation HomePod that's expected to launch next year, the company is looking for other partners.

Instead of being branded Beats the new headphones will feature Apple branding and be a higher-end alternative to the company's Beats line.

Last but not the least, Apple is also said to be developing a new HomePod speaker that it will launch in 2019 but there are no details available at this point in time about what it might bring to the table. An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.
