Britain's Prince William makes historic visit to Israel

Kate could take the title of Queen

The Duke of Cambridge has embarked on his historic five-day tour of the Middle East, and has disclosed that the Duchess of Cambridge was "very upset" to miss out on his visit to Jordan because holds very fond memories of the country after living there as a child.

Britain's Prince William voiced horror over a Nazi death camp exhibit at Israel's Holocaust memorial in a sombre start on Tuesday to the first official British royal visit to Israel and the Palestinian Territories. It is situated on the western slope of Mount Herzi, overlooking the city of Jerusalem.

The Duke will be joined by Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis during his visit, when he will leave his floral tribute in Yad Vashem's Hall of Remembrance. The princess died in 1969, and in 1988 her remains were brought to Jerusalem.

Kensington Palace has stressed that it is non political, as with all royal visits.

Though the trip is being billed as non-political, and places a special emphasis on technology and joint Israeli-Arab projects, the prince is meeting with Israeli and Palestinian leaders and visiting sites at the heart of the century-old conflict.

"I'm very grateful to Britain because it saved my life, it's as simple as that", said Foner, 86.

Prince Louis' Christening Date Announced By Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge
Prince George's christening took place in the Chapel Royal at St James's Palace in October 2013, five months after he was born. Kensington Palace recently announced that the newborn will be baptised on July 9.

He will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, at a time of widening rifts between the two sides. "He wants to get a flavor of the country".

After recreating the picture himself with the Crown Prince, William said: "Need to come back with the family for this shot".

The description was defended on Thursday by UK Ambassador David Quarrey who said "All the terminology that was used in the program was consistent with years of practice by British governments".

The duke's visit comes during a period of increased tension in the region. On Monday, June 25, William visited the archaeological site of Jerash in Jordan, where Kate at age four posed for a photo with her younger sister Pippa Middleton and their father Michael. He was hosted by Crown Prince Hussein, 23, a member of the Hashemite dynasty Britain helped install in then-Transjordan nearly a century ago.

William was reportedly disappointed to miss the England v Panama game on Sunday afternoon as he was travelling to Jordan.
