Saudi Aramco says facilities safe after Houthis claim missile launched at Asir

Emirati minister of state for foreign affairs Anwar Gargash speaks during a press conference in Dubai

Col Ibrahim Al Theeb of the Tihama Resistance, one of three Yemeni forces fighting the Iran-backed rebels alongside the Saudi-led Arab coalition, said taking control of Kilo 16 would also cut off rebel supplies and reinforcements sent from Sanaa, Saada and Raymah provinces to Houthis fighting to hold areas in southern Hodeidah province.

Since Saturday, the so-called coalition has announced a number of times that they had managed to fully capture the airport, but each time it was revealed that the airport was still in the hands of Houthi fighters and Yemeni troops, and that the compound was only within the reach of repeated air raids, Press TV reported.

Saudi-led airstrikes on Tuesday heavily bombed Houthi positions and snipers who took over rooftops in Hodeida as forces battled to take control over the airport of the city.

He said that the Houthis use the port to smuggle Iranian supplied arms and ballistic missiles into the country to target Saudi cities, including Haram Sharif in the two Holy cities of Makkah and Madina while misusing the port's revenue to support their ongoing militancy. The war has killed more than 10,000 people in all.

The United Arab Emirates is a country better known for oil riches and skyscraper skylines, but right now it is prosecuting what could be a crucial offensive in the 3-year-old conflict in Yemen.

Col. Turki Al-Malki, spokesman of the Coalition forces to restore legitimacy in Yemen, said that the missile was launched deliberately from Saada governorate of Yemen to target densely populated civilian areas.

The port remains open for incoming ships and Gargash said the UAE had plans for "airdrops" of food if necessary.

Showing her leg-brace and crutches she said: "Another milestone in my life, I've never actually broken a bone". Common, left, presented actor, writer and showrunner Lena Waithe with an MTV Trailblazer Award.

It lies eight kilometers from the city's port, through which three-quarters of Yemen's imports pass, providing a lifeline for some 22 million people dependent on aid.

"The political moves that are being proposed are being supported by us. but the situation is now very volatile", the Russian envoy said.

The coalition intervened in Yemen's war in 2015 after Houthi rebels drove the internationally recognised government into exile.

There was no immediate comment from the Saudi government.

A senior Houthi-linked health official says the Saudi-led coalition has bombed a bus carrying civilians, killing six people on the outskirts of the Yemeni city of Hodeida. Iran has been accused by the USA and the United Nations of supplying ballistic missile technology to the Houthis, something Tehran denies.

He said that this hostile action by the Houthi militia proves the Iranian regime's continued involvement in supporting the armed group in clear and explicit defiance of the United Nations resolutions with the aim of threatening the security of not only Saudi Arabia but also the region and the world.
