International Yoga Day: India takes a deep breath with Modi on the mat

From the Himalayan region of Ladakh to the deck of an aircraft carrier, tens of thousands joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to celebrate the fourth International Day of Yoga, with a few wearing masks to highlight poor air quality.

Several Saudi, Arab and other nationals, as well as volunteers belonging to Saudi and Arab Yoga Foundation participated in the event by performing yoga asanas (postures).

In Hunan province of south China, yoga practitioners perform asanas in picturesque village of Loutian in Daoxian county.

As a precursor to the main event, a Yoga Vistar was held in the Red Sea Beach in the backdrop of the iconic 300 mtr - high King Fahd Fountain, Jeddah.

Free from illness, a path to wellness - that is the path of yoga, he said.
