Chelsea Closing In On First Transfer Of The Summer From Serie A

Maurizio Sarri

Maurizio Sarri is set to make a raid on his soon to be former club Napoli when he is finally appointed as Chelsea boss according to reports.

Senegal surprised the football world after their 2-1 win over Poland to become the first African team to win a match in this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation. Sarri, a former banker, has been linked with the post even before the 59-year-old stepped down from the Napoli hotseat after guiding them to runners-up spot behind Juventus for the second time in three campaigns.

"At the moment there are a lot of rumours about me, but we'll see what happens and what happens in the future - at the moment, it is only talking but nothing is decided", the 51-year-old said. We have now a big coach and we know we can win something with him.

Brazilian central defender David Luiz had been snubbed by manager Antonio Conte and Gary Cahill's poor form meant that Chelsea had to utilize a young Dane called Andreas Christensen in the heart of the defence. One main reason for this downfall has been the shaky Chelsea back line that has conceded way too many goals this season. I hope he can win something with Chelsea.

'When a coach like this comes he needs time. I think Chelsea fans will enjoy the style of football he plays.

"At Napoli we enjoyed it very much as players and the supporters enjoyed it very much".
