RUMOR: Cavs don’t think they have enough to trade for Kawhi Leonard

Kawhi Leonard's reported trade request has re-energized the offseason free agency speculation surrounding LeBron James and Paul George to the Lakers, and these rumors are just the tip of the iceberg for what should be one wild and interesting offseason. Furthermore, Leonard reportedly plans on telling other potential suitors that he won't re-sign with them in 2019 when he becomes a free agent, as he prepares to sign in LA.

Clearly they'd rather not move on from inarguably one of the top five or so players in the National Basketball Association, and their current stance is completely reflective of that belief.

Now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers have reportedly acquired the 39 overall pick from the Philadelphia 76ers for a 2019 second round pick and cash considerations. Even with a $219 million super-max extension available to him this summer, it's becoming increasingly certain that Leonard will be donning another team's jersey come October. While trading for Leonard would likely be the main goal, they could also be thinking about moving up in the first round.

Only college players expected to attend National Basketball Association draft
The workout is planned to be rescheduled, but there's no way to tell how another injury will impact Porter's stock. Several NBA teams including the Knicks, Kings, and Suns were expected to attend and get a second look at him.

It's not known exactly what went down during the meeting between Leonard and Popovich, but San Antonio doesn't yet appear to be in any rush to deal their best player.

Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs stands on the court during Game 1 of the NBA Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors at ORACLE Arena on May 14, 2017 in Oakland, California. This move has all of the signs of them potentially looking for something bigger, but a big deal might not fall into place. Whether or not the Spurs move that soon is unknown, but on one of the NBA's busiest nights of the year, how many calls will they take on their disgruntled star? Right now, they have 11 players under contract for next season.

As the draft approaches, we will have to wait and see what comes of this trade for the Lakers.
