Saudi Arabian World Cup team's plane catches fire in midair

Saudi Arabia will face Luis Suarez and Uruguay in its next match. More

The Saudi Arabia national tam suffered a scare on its flight to Rostov-on-Don for its second match of the World Cup against Uruguay.

Despite the incident, the aircraft was able to land safely and the team are continuing their preparations for their group game against Uruguay on Wednesday.

The Saudi Football Association issued a statement saying that "The Saudi Football Federation wishes to reassure everyone about the safety of all the members of the mission of the national team after a minor technical malfunction in an engine".

Here's when Eid Al Fitr will be announced in UAE
Muslim faithful, steadfast in observing the holy month of Ramadan this far, now look forward to the signal for celebrations . As the calendar is based on the lunar cycle, Eid changes every year and is decided when there is a sighting of a new moon.

Blaming nerves for their underwhelming 1-0 opening World Cup win against Egypt, Uruguay vowed to be sharper and faster when they face Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

In another potential source of reassurance for the perennially underachieving Saudis, the usually ruthless Suarez missed three chances against Egypt on Friday in their opening game.

Bizarrely, two-time World Cup champions Uruguay have never beaten the "Green Falcons"; Saudi Arabia won a friendly in 2002 while a 2014 friendly ended in a draw. Uruguay played to a 1-0 win over Egypt in its opening match, drawing itself to a 3-3 points tie with Russian Federation in Group A.
