G7 to Russia: stop undermining democracies

Trump G-7

Trump agreed with the language in the communique from the summit in Canada Friday and Saturday, but took offense at criticism of USA tariffs by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at his news conference after Trump left early.

Larry Kudlow, director of the National Economic Council, lashed out at Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau as "amateurish" and "sophomoric" for a news conference he gave after Trump left the Group of Seven summit on Saturday.

Trump and Kim are expected to meet in Singapore on Tuesday with talks focusing on the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

USA trading partners have been furious over Trump's decision last week to impose import tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, the European Union and Mexico as part of his "America First" agenda.

Trump cited progress on reaching an agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico, saying the final outcome would lead either to an improved trade deal or separate pacts with the two USA neighbors.

He said: "Russia should be in this meeting". She said that she still believes Trump shares the principled stance of the G7 on "many issues".

Donald Trump and Justin Trudeau have been at loggerheads over trade tariffs

Peter Navarro, another top counselor, abandoned any semblance of decorum, suggesting "there is a special place in hell" for Trudeau.

On Canada, he is repeating his criticism of Canadian dairy but says he wants to make a deal on NAFTA, with two different types of sunset clauses - a stumbling block for Canada in the past.

"You know, whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run and the G7, which used to be the G8, they threw Russia out, they can let Russia come back in, because we should have Russia at the negotiating table", Trump told reporters before leaving Washington.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it's "a bit depressing" that President Donald Trump reneged on the Group of Seven's joint statement, though it isn't the end of the trans-Atlantic partnership. Russian Federation joined the G-7 in the 1990s, making it the Group of Eight, but was expelled after its annexation of Crimea in 2014. Also pictured are Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, France's Emmanuel Macron and UK's Theresa May, among others.

"President Trump is targeting the dairy sector because he wants to dump USA dairy into Canada", Lampron told The Canadian Press, adding that Canada imports five times more dairy from the US than it exports. "We have a little test every once in a while when it comes to trade".

"He held a press conference and he said the U.S.is insulting".

Macron said he and Trump had "open and direct" discussions, adding that he thought there was a way to get a "win-win" outcome on trade.
