Serena Williams Withdraws From French Open With A Fierce Message

Donald Trump views cause unbelievably weird moment at Serena press conference

Serena Williams has reportedly pulled out of her fourth round match against Maria Sharapova at the French Open due to a pectoral muscle injury.

The 23-time major victor, playing her first Grand Slam after the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia nine months ago, put it simply, "I can't serve".

Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, was playing in her first Grand Slam since she won the Australian Open in early 2017 while pregnant.

She said: "Unfortunately I've been having some issues with my pec muscle". There are still four weeks to go, and not being able to play a grass-court warm-up event beforehand should not be a concern: only twice in her career has she done so.

Williams was playing in her first Grand Slam since giving birth to her first child last September, dropping just one set on her way to reaching the last 16 in the French capital. "So it's really hard to be in this situation".

Serena Williams has withdrawn from the French Open just before her scheduled fourth round match against Maria Sharapova.

Yesterday's match was to have been the first between Williams and Sharapova in more than two years. I've never felt this in my life - it's so painful.

Despite her win, as Williams approached the final round, it appeared increasingly hard for her, although spectators and fans continued to cheer her on.

But Australia's tennis super-mum is still backing the American to add to her record grand slam tally, despite her French Open setback.

Clinton defends response to Lewinsky questions: 'I got hot under the collar'
Former President Bill Clinton tried to clarify his comments about the Monica Lewinsky scandal at a speaking event Monday evening. But after a 21-day trial, he was acquitted by the Senate of charges relating to the affair.

"I tried lots of taping and support to see how it felt in match circumstances", Williams said.

"I'm having an MRI (scan) tomorrow, I'm going to stay here to see the doctors and see as many specialists as I can".

Garcia, whose best performance at a major came past year when she reached the last eight in Paris, still has to deliver, but she peaked at a career-high seventh in the WTA rankings this month. "It didn't get a lot better", Williams said.

She had battled past Ashleigh Barnes in the previous round, setting up a clash with long-time rival Sharapova. "All for this moment", she said.

"Every match has been getting better for me".

Sharapova also wrote that she thought Williams hated her "for hearing her cry".

"But on the day I can leave a Grand Slam saying I gave everything I had, I played a great match, is not here yet".
