Liverpool complete signing of Fabinho from Monaco

Fekir to Liverpool is not close says Lyon president

Liverpool have wasted little time picking up the pieces from their devastating Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev, by confirming their first signing of the summer in the form of Brazil global Fabinho from Monaco in a deal which could be worth up to €50m.

"So I was able to know a bit more about Liverpool through Firmino.

He's a really technical player and I'm sure that he will adapt to the Premier League as soon as he arrives", he told a news conference in London on Tuesday.

The Reds suffered a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last weekend after goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

He will join another new face in Liverpool's midfield next term, with Guinea global Naby Keita moving to Merseyside from RB Leipzig on 1 July.

During the last 18 months, Internazionale, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain have all been involved in discussions to extract the versatile midfielder from AS Monaco.

Jurgen Klopp believes the versatility of "fantastic person" Fabinho will make the midfielder a fine signing for Liverpool.

After Kerala, Nipah virus suspected in Himachal Pradesh
The first death from the disease was reported on Friday, with health officials traced back to a well infested with diseased bats. Today the death toll of the virus - which has no vaccine - rose to 11, with nearly 100 people being treated as potential cases.

"Unfortunately, occasionally I get some yellow cards for that but I think that won't be a problem here".

Can has not played for the Reds since March because of a back injury and was left out of Germany's preliminary World Cup squad.

"We are hugely proud that a natural talent we developed is in the national squad and I will be at the match tonight when he will play for France", said Aulas.

"We simply know that teams are interested".

Fabinho was a midfield mainstay in Jardim's league-winning Monaco of 2016-17, typically partnering Tiémoué Bakayoko as the two deeper players in their 4-2-2-2 system.

"He has ability and mentality to play at the highest level in a number of positions".

This season, the Frenchman has been playing for Lyon in a position that hasn't existed in Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side, just off a central striker.
