Trump tells Giuliani to 'get facts straight' on Stormy Daniels case

HeraldScotland

After repeatedly denying knowledge of the payment, Trump tweeted on Thursday following the revelations by Giuliani that Cohen had undertaken the payout separately from the campaign "to stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair".

However, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani drew that claim into question when he said earlier this week that Trump had paid Cohen back.

Giuliani also reiterated that he believes Trump would like to testify if summoned to speak with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, either in an interview or before a grand jury.

The former NY mayor said Wednesday that the president had reimbursed personal lawyer Michael Cohen for a secret $130,000 payment he made in 2016 to actress Stormy Daniels. Cohen was dismayed to hear Trump marginalize his role during an interview last week with "Fox & Friends" and interpreted a recent negative National Enquirer cover story as a warning shot from a publication that has always been cozy with Trump, said the person who was not authorized to talk about private conversations and spoke only on condition of anonymity.

During an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Wednesday, Giuliani volunteered a startling bit of information.

Jost also knocked Giuliani for saying that Trump had the money for the payment "funneled" through a law firm.

"He started yesterday", Trump said Friday of Giuliani, who joined the president's legal team two weeks ago. "He's a great guy".

Giuliani's comments, if true, opened both Trump and Cohen to possible legal liabilities pertaining to federal laws on reporting campaign-related finances and, in Trump's case, personal finances, including outstanding obligations to Cohen.

"Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement", Trump said.

Parolee who fled with children in RV chase has OR ties
He was able to create a large cloud of dust with the vehicle which gave the officers pause. The chase made eventually made its way back into Bakersfield and through surface streets.

Trump took Giuliani to the woodshed for his gaffe Friday morning.

Trump then intervened to demand that Cohen link him up directly with Stormy Daniels.

"And virtually everything said has been said incorrectly, and it's been said wrong, or it's been covered wrong by the press", Trump said. Donald Trump has denied that he knew about a payment to Stormy. Trump added that Giuliani was still getting up to speed.

"I have to find out we're going to be treated fairly", he said.

Conway said she was unaware of any other payments similar to the one made in the Daniels matter, but acknowledged that she had less knowledge of any potential arrangements than former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Times reporters are probably investigating that at this very moment, although only Cohen may know the full truth.

In the annals of disgraced Trump lackeys who enjoyed embarrassingly brief tenures in jobs they were exceptionally bad at doing, Anthony Scaramucci may soon be in good company.

After a chaotic series of calls, Stiller got Daniels on the phone with Baldwin.

Giuliani said to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in an exclusive interview on "This Week" Sunday, "How could I be confident" that president won't take the Fifth Amendment.
