Snapchat's Snappables are new augmented reality games you can play with friends

Some Snappables invite you to jump into another world together and then invite your friends to join in. These let you play games - like a dance-off or basketball - through touch, motion, and facial expressions.

Only last week, the ephemeral picture sharing app announced a new way for users to build their very own face filters. "Snappables" have been shown off for the first time in the video below.

According to a Wired story about the launch of Snappables, the company is also planning on unveiling an "updated spectacles product" later this week.

Popular social networking app Snapchat has rolled out a new feature called Snappables that will enable users to play Augmented Reality (AG) games with their friends on the platform. Some Snappables let you challenge friends to beat your high score, while others are multiplayer games. Although not shown in the clip, some AR games can be controlled using traditional touch gestures.

Snappables live right where Lenses do. These are basically Lenses that double as games. Another game involves blowing kisses, while another one looks like a bubble gum popping contest. The latest Snappables feature will be rolled out to Android and iOS devices by the end of this week, the company has confirmed.

Lastly, the company feels that these new Snappables as just the beginning of a new type of AR experience on Snapchat. TechCrunch's Josh Constine has shared a video clip that demos some of the upcoming Snapchat AR games.

A Snap spokesperson did not respond to a question about whether or not developers are now able to create Snappable filters, or when they will be able to do so.
