Saudi airstrike attacks Yemeni wedding; Houthi retaliates with missile

Yemenis check the damage in a power station in the aftermath of a reported air strike by the Saudi-led coalition in the Yemeni capital Sanaa

The council was formed by the Houthi movement and the General People's Congress Party in 2016 to run the country's affairs in the absence of an effective government amid a civil war that has been going on in Yemen since 2015.

The Western-backed alliance has been fighting a war for three years against the armed Houthi movement which controls the area and much of northern Yemen.

The rebels added that six others were killed in the raid, which took place last Thursday.

Ali Nasser al-Azib, deputy head of the hospital, said 30 children were among the wounded, some in critical condition with shrapnel wounds and severed limbs.

Health ministry spokesman Abdel-Hakim al-Kahlan said ambulances were initially unable to reach the site of the bombing for fear of subsequent airstrikes as the jets continued to fly overhead.

Saudi-led coalition airstrike hit a wedding party in Yemen, killing the bride and at least 20 others.

This was the third deadly airstrike in war-torn Yemen to have hit the civilians in recent days.

Comparing Games 1 and 2 with 3 and 4
The Capitals jumped out to a 1-0 lead when right winger Tom Wilson scored on a one-timer with 13:44 remaining in the first period. Four of five games between the teams have gone past regulation making fatigue a factor for Game 6 Monday night in Columbus.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday strongly condemned airstrikes on a wedding in Yemen that killed dozens of people, including children, and called for an investigation.

He called " for a prompt, effective and transparent investigation", said United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric in a statement.

Throssell told VOA she does not know whether the attacks on civilian targets resulted from mistakes or were part of deliberate actions.

The council conveyed its honest condolences to the Yemeni nation for the loss of Samad, an influential figure in Yemen's resistance against a more-than-three-year-old war imposed by Riyadh on the impoverished country.

Since November, the Huthis have launched several ballistic missiles at neighbouring Saudi Arabia, which have been intercepted by anti-aircraft defence.

Sayyed AbdulMalik al-Houthi said that the people look at the Samad's sacrifices an incentive for giving more, steadfastness and strengthening the internal front.

Most recently, on Monday, two ballistic missiles were fired at a Saudi Aramco facility in the southern city of Jizan - both of which were destroyed.
