Mark Zuckerberg reportedly pushed Instagram's founders to copy Snapchat's popular 'Stories' feature

Facebook has a tool with the name ' Download your information', which allows its user to download the copy of complete data they have uploaded on the social media platform or switch to another platform with all their data.

Amid the Facebook and Cambridge Analytica scandal, Instagram is now taking steps to allow users to have some control on their data. Facebook revealednbsp;that its flagship network shares "services, infrastructure and information" with its sister networks, including Instagram and WhatsApp.

The feature gives Instagram an edge over competitor Snapchat, TechCrunch reported, which has floundered a bit recently in the wake of an unpopular redesign and negative press attention from an advertisement poking fun at domestic violence.

Seeing as most new Instagram users will probably breeze through these set up steps, many people will probably not realise what they are even doing here.

A number of data breaches may also be made public next month as companies race to beat the GDPR deadline.

It would also help famous figures and businesses in visually promoting their Instagram accounts by posting their Nametag on other platforms or printing it on posters to gather more followers. Then you can either add it to your story or send it to your friends using Instagram Direct.

It's easy to assume that services such as Instagram would be around forever. It remains to be seen if media content such as images and videos will download in their original quality or in a compressed format. It is not known whether Instagram will allow downloading of data like likes, comments and captions which are shared with the posts. The new tool from Instagram would shut off all such businesses when the giant introduce this feature natively within the Instagram's application under the Settings menu. However, before doing that, users might want pristine copies of everything they ever shared for portability's sake, something Facebook has offered since 2010.

The problem with that, however, is there appears to be no app that will challenge Instagram.
