Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, stated that all public services will use blockchain technology in the future, and that the partnership would turn the "enormous potential of blockchain into better services for citizens".

Andrus Ansip pointed out the importance of becoming the world leader in digital technology and called on the European Commission to give full support to the European technology sector "both politically and financially".

Calls for the European Union to introduce collective lawsuits - a tool used extensively in U.S. litigation - grew after revelations in 2015 that Volkswagen had cheated on environmental emissions tests.

The website describes blockchain as a technology capable of promoting trust.

Since discussions began, the European Union have published a press release which discusses the results of the Digital Day talks and discusses plans for the new European Blockchain Partnership.

The Commission said this was expected to unlock €6.5bn of new investment in innovative start-up and scale-up companies across Europe, doubling the amount of venture capital now available on the continent. The partnership sees it's ultimate goal as that of ensuring Europe stays at the forefront of blockchain technology development and implementation. The afternoon session was dedicated to the Blockchain Partnership Initiative. Post-withdrawal from the EU may mean that actually, we are required to leave the partnership, this seems unlikely however as honestly, there would have been no point in signing up from the outset, therefore I expect that this has already been discussed and a contingency plan to keep the United Kingdom as a part of the European Blockchain Partnership is already in place.

Coatue Management LLC Decreased Its Stake in Nvidia Corp (NVDA)
The firm owned 53,441 shares of the computer hardware maker's stock after buying an additional 3,316 shares during the period. Trinity Street Asset Management LLP increased its stake in shares of NVIDIA Corporation by 154.6% in the second quarter.

The European Commission launched the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum in February and will invest some €300 million ($370M USD) in projects supporting the use of blockchain.

The UK and twelve other European countries also signed a declaration to deliver cross-border access to their genomic information.

Sharing more genomic data will improve understanding and prevention of disease, allowing for more personalised treatments (and targeted drug prescription), in particular for rare diseases, cancer and brain related diseases.

The Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis said, "I welcome this initiative connecting genomic and other health data across the European Union".

Around £25bn in investment in the digital sector is set to be triggered thanks to the support of the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI). U.S. companies do have access to investment because there are more investment funds out there.
