Companies still to report as gender pay gap reporting deadline looms

JCB's Daisy Coombes who was recently voted the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Apprentice of the Year

The news comes after a report by Johnston Press - the parent company of The News, Portsmouth - revealed a mean gender pay gap of 15.1 per cent, as well as more males than females in management roles and a predominantly male Senior Management Team.

British Prime Minister Theresa May has described the UK's gender pay gap as a "burning injustice" and said that society will remain poorer for as long as it persists.

"Whilst 0.9 per cent is a small amount, we're working toward ensuring our overall figure for the coming year is 0 per cent and I'm confident we are on track for that", said UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones MBE. Firms like mattress retailer Sweet Dreams and nursery business Yellow Dot which pay women 46.4 percent and 35.4 percent more per hour respectively.

Some companies with large gaps have said they pay women and men in similar jobs the same amount.

DOZENS of Thurrock companies have revealed the gender pay gap between their male and female employees.

On Monday, Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy will lead a group of politicians launching an online campaign called #PayMeToo, which aims to give working women advice on how to tackle any disparity. Only 8% said they had no median gender pay gap at all.

Arsenal legend praises fans for abandoning the Emirates
Midfielder Dusan Tadic has said that his team "should be ashamed" that they are so low in the table. When asked if the policy would continue Wenger smiled and said: "You will find out [against CSKA]".

Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal all pay their average female employee more than the average male staff member. "This should give a clear insight into how committed the organisation is towards promoting women", says The Guardian.

The Sun and Sun on Sunday's gap was 24.8 per cent. "While we've made real progress in many different areas, we're acutely aware there's still much more work to do, especially if we are to be as diverse and inclusive as we aspire to be and if we are to increase the number of women in leadership roles". More than 8,800 of about 9,000 companies had already done so by Wednesday afternoon. The entire aim is to encourage women to be part of the employment process with the same remuneration as men.

How is the pay gap calculated?

For the first time, she said, every larger firm would know the average pay difference between men and women in their company. But they still have a wide gender pay gap because of the salaries of a few top male executives. According to this metric, men are paid just 6.1 per cent better than women.

The charity also claims that this exercise has the potential to be a game changer in prompting people to talk about pay and find out what their colleagues earn -and it is calling on women everywhere today to do just that.

Meanwhile the median, or middle, value paid to women was £10.57, and £12.42 for men.
