Trump Cancels DACA, Restates Opposition To Immigrant Programme

Donald Trump's tweets come amid tense negotiations over NAFTA between his administration and that of Mexican President

At a news conference announcing the signing of the $1.3 trillion spending bill in which Trump didn't get what he had wanted on immigration, the president tried to convince the almost 8 in 10 Latinos who voted against him in the 2016 election that his party supports them more than anyone else.

Mr. Trump tweeted on Monday morning.

As concern grows daily about the unsafe drugs, and criminal immigrants flowing into the country from the Mexican border, Trump blamed Mexico directly.

Alex Mensing of Pueblos Sin Fronteras told ABC News that numerous caravan travelers are fleeing violence and that they are hoping to reach US ports of entry in Arizona, California, or New Mexico where they will claim asylum and likely be detained.

"'Caravans' coming. Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW". And he wants certain changes to the US immigration system that some lawmakers are not comfortable with.

Judd said the immigrants seeking asylum would "create havoc and chaos" while in the US awaiting hearings on their refugee status. Those detained after crossing the border are also sometimes released because of bed shortages and a court ruling that limits the detention of women and children to 21 days.

"These big flows of people are all trying to take advantage of DACA".

"They want in on the act!" he wrote.

The president ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program last September and gave Congress a deadline of March 5 to pass legislation to protect the almost 700,000 young people with DACA status, so-called Dreamers. The hardline immigration bill favored by the White House would eventually reduce legal immigration by 38 percent, according to the libertarian Cato Institute.

Georgetown's 4×100 meter relay team (Galley, Logan Doss, Jonathan Strickland, and Mootz) placed third with a time of 50.61. She ran a 12:00.11 in the 3,200-meter run, good for second and placed fourth in the 1,600-meter run, finishing in 5:45.75.

Of all the issues upon which Democrats and Republicans could campaign, in the run-up to the November midterm elections, immigration may turn out to be the one both parties try to avoid.

Political groups backed by the conservative Koch brothers are criticizing President Donald Trump for declaring that an effort to protect young immigrants from deportation is dead. Trump said, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). "We wanted to include DACA". Before leaving for Easter recess, Congress passed an omnibus spending bill with no DACA fix, even though advocates saw that as the best must-pass vehicle for one. The Democrats would not do it.

Trump spoke briefly to hundreds of guests on the South Lawn, pointing to a "special year" for the country and progress on the economy.

The "Nuclear Option" reference concerns the inability of Senate Republicans to pass legislation without Democratic votes due to their razor-thin majority. The month prior, he said Republicans "are just wasting time" if they maintain the filibuster.

In light of Trump's call for the "nuclear option", a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday noted that Republican senators oppose changing existing rules governing the debate and passage of legislation. No longer works. Must build Wall and secure our borders with proper Border legislation. "They laugh at our dumb immigration laws"'.

The White House did not immediately answer questions about Trump's tweets. "NEED WALL!" The U.S., Canada and Mexico are participating in tense negotiations over the North American Free Trade Agreement at Trump's insistence.

Mexico has got to help us at the border.

Outside the church on Sunday, the president said the Democrats "blew it" after having "had a great chance". "Mexico is making a fortune on NAFTA", he wrote, adding: "With all of the money they make from the USA, hopefully they will stop people from coming through their country and into ours, at least until Congress changes our immigration laws!"
