Malala returns to Pakistan after five years

Malala Yousafzai became the youngest person and the first Pakistani to win the Nobel Peace Prize

Nobel Peace Prize victor, Malala Yousafzai, on Thursday, made a very emotional return to her native country of Pakistan, six years after she was forced to flee after been shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for advocating education of girls.

"I have dreamed of returning to Pakistan for the past five years", 20-year-old Malala said with tears in her eyes. He said he was happy to welcome her home, where he said "terrorism has been eliminated" - a line often repeated by Islamabad despite persistent militant attacks in the country.

At home in Pakistan, however, she has been condemned by some as a Western mouthpiece with some even suggesting on social media that the shooting was staged.

"I welcome #MalalaYousafzai the courageous and resilient daughter of Pakistan back to her country", politician Syed Ali Raza Abidi wrote on Twitter.

Even after her recovery, Yousafzai continued to agitate for girls' education, setting up the "Malala Fund" aimed at supporting education advocacy groups in countries such as Pakistan, Nigeria and Kenya.

Malala began her campaigning career aged just 11, when she started writing a blog - under a pseudonym - for the BBC's Urdu service in 2009 about life under the Taliban in Swat, where they were banning girls' education. "I wish she had come here, but we welcome her", she said, as she sat with fellow students. From growing up in Swat - it was such a attractive place - to then seeing terrorism and extremism from 2007 till 2009. "I would have never left the country had the doctors not advised to get treatment in the United Kingdom", she said.

Yousafzai's return Thursday made instant news in Pakistan.

She set up the Malala Fund with her father Ziauddin, with the goal of "working for a world where every girl can learn and lead without fear".

She was treated for her injuries in Birmingham, England, where she also completed her schooling. "It is your home".

LA police say recovered body likely missing model
The body of an aspiring actress and model is believed to have been found in a shallow grave in Northern California . Shabani came from Macedonia and had been in Los Angeles less than two years, according to her friends.

"We won't ask men to change the world, we're going to do it ourselves", she said. "There are thousand of girls and boys who stayed back in Pakistan and fought out TTP unlike Malala", wrote Riz Khan hours after Malala arrived in country, referring to the Pakistani Taliban.

Like Benazir Bhutto, the former prime minister who was killed by an assailant in 2007, Miss Yousafzai is now studying at a top Oxford college.

Malala was dressed in Pakistani shalwar kameez and dupatta.

Politicians, journalists and celebrities were among those welcoming her back. We are proud of you.

Yousafzai was only 14 when she was shot, but already was well-known for advocating education.

Recalling the 2012 attack on her, she further said, "The attack happened and I had to leave home, everything was happening itself".

Severely wounded, Malala was taken by helicopter from one military hospital in Pakistan to another, where doctors placed her in a medically induced coma so an air ambulance could fly her to Great Britain for treatment.

In 2014, Malala won the Nobel Peace Prize, becoming the youngest victor ever, jointly with India's children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi for "their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education".
