Paris St-Germain striker Neymar has reportedly undergone a "successful" operation on the fractured metatarsal he suffered during last Sunday's Ligue 1 victory over Marseille.

Amid reports of tension between PSG and Brazil's footballing authorities over Neymar's medical treatment, PSG insisted that it would take charge of his recuperation.

The world's most expensive footballer was using crutches to walk and wearing a big protective boot on his right foot.

The Brazilian injured himself against Marseille on February 25 and was forced to leave the field on stretcher, hinting that he may not be fit for the World Cup. A statement read, as quoted by the club's official website: "The operation consisted of the laying of a screw associated with a transplant fixed at the level of the lesion of the fifth metatarsal of the right foot".

"He will be re-evaluated in around six weeks in order to specify a possible date when he can return to training".

United Nations plans to deliver aid to Syria's Ghouta tomorrow
No civilians have exited through a humanitarian corridor set up by Russian Federation and the Syrian government almost a week ago. Syrian regime forces have killed 23 civilians in ongoing attacks in Eastern Ghouta, the Syrian Civil Defense said Friday.

Neymar is now expected to miss the next three months of action, likely ruling him out for the rest of the club season and seeing him return to fitness just in time for this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

"Neymar is sad, but understands he has no alternative now".

Lasmar pointed out that physiotherapy would be done by Rafael Martino, who does work both for PSG and the Brazilian national team, which "shows the integration of all parties".

PSG lost 3-1 to Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 in Spain and host the defending European champions at the Parc des Princes on 6 March.
