Bruins Acquisition Of Rick Nash Should Improve Their Stanley Cup Odds

It's said that Nash is now joining the team in Buffalo and he will face off against the Buffalo Sabres tonight. NY receives forwards Ryan Spooner and Matt Beleskey, defenseman prospect Ryan Lindgren, a 2018 first-round pick, and a 2019 seventh-round pick for Nash. We have just 43 days left in the regular season - the Bruins are due to play a hellish 23 games in that time - and the playoffs could be over in less than two weeks. Nash is in the final year of his contract and is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Team USA captain Gionta signed a one-year deal worth a prorated $700,000. That became clear with the recent ice-time Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy doled out to the mercurial forward, and was hammered home by last night's meager 11:17 of time on ice in a 4-3 loss, which was his second-lowest total since returning to the Boston lineup in December. Nash joins Nick Holden in the Hub and now the focus shifts to who is next to be voted off Rangers' Island. Nash hits the 20 goal mark on a pretty consistent basis and is also an excellent defensive forward. The NHL trade deadline arrives Monday afternoon at 3 pm.

The Rangers, who lost six straight games heading into Sunday night's game against Detroit, before which they will retire Ratelle's No. 19, are nearly certain to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2010.

The seven adults have the freedom to play outside, exercise, and use iPads at the hospital. Six of the Turpin children are minors, and they've been split among two foster homes.

The Rangers now have two picks in each of the first three rounds of the June draft. NY could opt for eating Beleskey's contract and obtaining Brandon Carlo and a first rounder, though to me that's an okay not great deal.

In anticipation of trading Nash, the Rangers had the forward sit out their past two games to avoid the possibility injury. He was selected by Columbus with the No. 1 pick in the 2002 draft and played his first nine seasons with the Blue Jackets before being traded to the Rangers in a multiplayer deal in July 2012.

It's a hefty price to pay for Nash, but he's one of the most consistent goal scorers in the National Hockey League. It's still unknown if Spooner was a piece the Rangers really wanted, or if it was more of Don Sweeney forcing Jeff Gorton's hand. It provides the Bruins with the defensive depth they need while keeping them flexible moving forward with Holden playing on an expiring contract. In addition to having a stand out 16-17 regular season Holden added two goals and two assists in 11 postseason games for NY. The 26-year-old has 25 points in 39 games this season. He was also captain of the Montreal Canadiens, and won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 2003. And the 33-year-old Nash, who has topped 30 goals in eight of his 15 seasons, also adds an offensive dimension to a team that has leaned heavily on its top line, which has combined to score 73 of Boston's 192 goals this season.
