WADA investigate reasons for Russian bobsledder Sergeeva positive doping test

Winter Olympics 2018: Bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva becomes latest Russian to fail a doping test

In a statement earlier today, the Russian Bobsled Federation confirmed that Russian bobsleigh pilot Nadezhda Sergeeva tested positive for a banned heart medication on 18 February, just five days after she passed another test.

The Russian bobsleigh federation said in a post on its official Facebook page on Friday that the athlete had tested positive on February 18, five days after a previous doping test returned a negative result for her.

Russians are competing as neutrals at the Games because of allegations the country ran a systematic drug-cheating program at the 2014 Sochi Games.

An Olympic curling bronze medallist from Russian Federation was found guilty of violating an anti-doping rule at the PyeongChang Winter Games and was stripped of his medal, an global sports arbitration body announced Thursday.

"The athlete has admitted the anti-doping rule violation; she is disqualified from the women's bobsleigh event", it said.

Saturday's announcement comes after Russian curler Alexander Krushelnitsky agreed to hand back his mixed-team bronze medal after testing positive for meldonium, which can aid in endurance.

Chelsea Loanee Michy Batshuayi Taunts Racist Atalanta Fans
Atalanta president Antonio claimed he didn't hear the chants, but offered his apologies to Batshuayi "if they did happen". The on-loan Chelsea striker, Michy took to Twitter to express his displeasure.

If the suspension is not lifted, the athletes will march behind the Olympic flag and in neutral uniforms, as they did for the opening ceremony.

Other Olympic delegations said they did not want to see the Russian tricolor on Sunday.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport on Saturday said Nadezhda Sergeeva has accepted a provisional suspension but reserved her right "to seek the elimination or reduction" of her expected ban from competition.

"Especially in light of the second doping offence, our position is that the flag should not come into the closing ceremony with the Russian team", Tricia Smith, president of the Canadian Olympic Committee, told a news conference.

It follows two failed drug tests by Russian athletes at Pyeongchang 2018.
