The Giants will receive an extra fourth-round selection in the upcoming draft after the National Football League announced its compensatory picks on Friday.

Under the Compensatory Draft System, clubs that suffer a net loss of Compensatory Free Agents during free agency are eligible to receive a corresponding number of compensatory selections int he follow year's draft. The formula for awarding compensatory draft choices factors in salary, playing time, and postseason honors.

Regardless, the Colts are another step closer to the draft, even if they will be without compensatory picks. Dallas' and Green Bay's four selections each are equal to the 69th overall pick, which is in the third round.

The NFL officially handed out compensatory picks on Friday.

The Browns signed two such free agents last offseason, guard Kevin Zeitler from the Bengals and center JC Tretter from the Packers. Both picks are in the sixth round.

National Football League rules allow for teams that lose more or better compensatory free agents than they acquire in the previous year are eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

With three selections, they did not get the most picks.
