Winter Storm Warning Issued As Snow Rolls Into Western Pa.

Several of the states expecting the heaviest snowfall are now issuing storm warnings, including in Ohio, Michigan, Northern Indiana, Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Eastern Iowa, and thousands of flights have been canceled.

Airlines also have cancelled hundreds of flights at O'Hare and Midway airports.

Winter storm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for parts of northwest OH, southern Lower Michigan, northern IN, northern IL, southern Wisconsin and eastern Iowa, where show is expected to be the heaviest.

Early this morning, the National Weather Service received reports of 4 inches of snow in northern IL, including near Chicago's Midway Airport.

The storm is expected to drop about a foot (1/3 meter) of snow or more in some areas by the time it moves eastward out of the region Friday night. He says "we're tried and tested here".

Friday's winter snow storm caused more than 400 flights to be canceled or delayed.

According to a NBC5 report, the potential snowstorm will likely start late Thursday and continue into Friday night, acculumating between 5 and 10 inches. People should stay off the roads if possible, but if they drive they should expect delays and hazardous conditions.

Schools and travel saw major impacts across the Midwest on Friday as Winter Storm Mateo dumped inches of snow across a large section of the nation's heartland.

The National Weather Service said heavy snow is forecast to move into upstate NY and New England by early Saturday, Reuters reported.
