Boston Herald pulls 'fake' story about Tom Brady wanting more money

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in action against the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl 52 on Sunday

Borges' report cited unnamed "sources" close to Brady who claimed the quarterback was willing to skip offseason training if he didn't receive a significant pay raise similar to former Patriots backup Jimmy Garoppolo, who inked a new five-year, $137.5 million contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday.

"The dominoes are about to continue their Foxboro free fall".

As NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk noted this morning, the Boston Herald has pulled the column after Boston-area radio station WEEI revealed that one of their listeners was the one who texted Borges.

This isn't the first time Borges has gotten into hot water over his writing.

ESPN streaming service details confirmed
Within the same app, consumers would need to be pay TV subscribers to access ESPN television networks on an authenticated basis. Adjusted EPS does not include a $1.6 billion benefit related to recent changes in US tax law and certain other one-time items.

The longtime Boston journalist was suspended for two months by the Boston Globe back in 2008 for plagiarism. The website also accused Borges of "copying and pasting" their work in the past without giving proper citation. Many reports said that $74 million of that is guaranteed.

Borges' column was printed in Friday's Herald. The Twitter account claims the perpetrator of the hoax is "Nick from Boston". It's no longer available online.

"A column by Ron Borges in today's Herald regarding Patriot Tom Brady's salary discussions was based on information which proved to be false", the statement, published Friday afternoon, read.

Along with retracting the story, the newspaper apologized to Brady, Yee and the Patriots and announced the column has been suspended pending further review. The Herald immediately took down the column and we've yet to have a response from Borges.
