Possible HTC U12 sighting reported in Taiwan, mystery mid-ranger also benchmarked

This could be our first look at a real HTC U12

The logo for Taiwan's leading smartphone maker HTC (L) is pictured above a busy street in Taipei on July 20, 2012.

Aside from the HTC U12, HTC also showcased the HTC Vive PRO in 2018 and the HTC Vive Focus at the same event.

According to Evan, this is the HTC Imagine which is the codename for the U12.

While HTC will be laying low for the upcoming MWC 2018 event, they chose to show up at the recent Taiwan 5G industry event and surprise, surprise, a wild HTC U12 appeared out of nowhere showcasing its LTE+ technology. Even the smartphone was kept on display for viewing, the company had covered its top and bottom portions.

'Mexico relationship with Trump closer than with previous U.S. governments'
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson looks on during a joint news conference in Mexico City , Mexico February 2, 2018. Perhaps he should just cut off their foreign aid, the president groused.

Elsewhere the handset looks like it'll have an 18:9 bezel-less display, just like the U11 Plus. The smartphone is also capable of recording 4K videos. But ahead of any official confirmation, a combination of new reports indicate that the company might have showcased the phone during a 5G event held by a local carrier in Taiwan.

As per Taiwanese publication Sogi, HTC said the new flagship phone will be announced sometime this year.

In the images below the HTC U12 has achieved a 809.58 Mbps download speed, which points to the zippy Qualcomm X20 LTE modem that will premiere with the Snapdragon 845.

The smartphone was showcased at the 5G event so it is quite obvious that the phone will come with a 5G connectivity option, which translates to download speeds of 809.58Mbps, which is nearly 1 Gbps (GB-per-second). However, the company hasn't disclosed the name of the upcoming handset.
