Galaxy S9 to combine iris scanning and facial recognition with 'Intelligent Scan'

Samsung Sri Lanka launches Galaxy A8+ smartphone -

Samsung might be planning to move one step ahead of its Cupertino-based rival Apple, as the company's Galaxy S9 is rumored to be featuring both facial recognition technology and retinal scanning technology of last year's flagships Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8.

As XDA Developers notes, a recent teardown of the Settings app found within an unreleased Android Oreo beta revealed something called "Intelligent Scan", a new featured allegedly coming to the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The report adds that Face scanner, iris scanner and Intelligent Scan can't be used at the same time and that disabling one will also switch off the other two features. A video has also been made available that shows how the feature would work and has been included below. The strings of code in Settings APK, also reveal the objective of the new feature, as one code says: "Unlock your phone using combined face and iris scanning". This is now not in the Note8, S8, or S8 active Oreo beta builds. This means that the S9/S9+ will be able to take even better low-light photography. Using both simultaneously would improve the accuracy of both and give users a consistent experience whatever the lighting.

Jaffer was referring to text messages between the two that disparaged Trump - but also commented negatively on some Democrats. Devin Nunes's classified memo on alleged government abuses of surveillance as " extraordinarily reckless ", the Times .

It seems the feature will likely be introduced with the launch of forthcoming Galaxy S9 flagship. While the iPhone X didn't necessarily innovate in any of those categories, the combination of increased power and a facial recognition technology we hadn't seen before was enough to capture the attention of the smartphone market over the holidays.

According to a report by, the Galaxy S9 series will feature a variable f/1.5 aperture lens on the rear camera setup. The Galaxy S8, S8+, Galaxy Note 8 and the upcoming Galaxy S9 duo are all equipped with iris scanner and fingerprint scanner. Recently, there have been some leaks ... This might be the reason for gaining some thickness.Having said that, Samsung is building its new ISOCELL camera technologies to enhance image results as well as maintain a thin overall profile.
